The ancient practice of acupuncture started in China approximately 3000 years ago.

Acupuncture is the practice of inserting very fine needles into the body to stimulate the meridians in the body’s energetic system. Different points along the meridians are stimulated to balance the flow of energy (Qi) in the body promoting health & well-being. Practitioners may also use heat, pressure (Acupressure), friction, suction (see Cupping), or impulses of electromagnetic energy to stimulate these points.

Acupuncture is one of the fastest-growing forms of healthcare in Canada. The World Health Organization (WHO) has documented its success in treating over forty-three  conditions including:

  • Chronic and Acute Pain conditions – injuries, carpal tunnel and headaches

  • Upper Respiratory Disorders – Colds and flu, asthma and bronchitis

  • Digestive Disorders – Irritable Bowel Syndrome, ulcers, colitis, constipation, chronic diarrhea and abdominal pain.

  • Reproductive Disorders – Infertility, erectile dysfunction, menopause symptoms, PMS, fibroids,  endometriosis.

How does acupuncture work?

The body contains energy pathways known as meridians, and these meridians can become blocked for various reasons. The acupuncturist helps to determine where these blockages are, and then working to restore the proper flow of Qi, through the use of needles, etc., which in turn restores good health. It has been also been shown to stimulate the immune system, affects the circulation, blood pressure, rhythm and stroke volume of the heart, secretion of the gastric acid, and production of red and white cells. It also stimulates the release of a variety of hormones that help the body to respond to injury and stress.

Cosmetic Acupuncture

Acupuncture Facelift, as a form of a non-surgical facelift, has recently become a mainstream alternative to surgery.

This type of facial rejuvenation involves bringing fresh oxygenated blood to the face. It has been proven to stimulate collagen production.

Collagen is a protein found in skin cells that stops being produced as we age.  A lack of collagen is responsible for wrinkles, fine lines and loss of skin elasticity. The treatment slows down the ageing process from within and is well suited for both female and male patients. Bring out your inner radiance without the pharmaceutical side effects or nerve damage of conventional methods.

In the process of having the treatment done your practitioner will use the needles both “locally” (on the facial points) and in other areas of your body (distally) as the focus for acupuncture is not just to address the problem but also the internal cause of the problem (the imbalance in your Qi).

  • Eliminates fine lines and diminishes the appearance of larger wrinkles

  • Improves the bodies water metabolism thereby reducing eye puffiness, double chins and jowls
